Hatton Gallery visit for Year 5

Year 5 went to Newcastle University to look round the recently refurbished Hatton Gallery, with the main focus on Pop Art.

Many artists of the 50s and 60s experimented with modern ideas; Newcastle University (then known as King’s College, Durham) played host to many of these future world-famous pop artists and their teachers. After an excellent guided tour, the children were set the task of creating collages using small pictures cut from magazines, to build up themes and ideas within mapped out boxes.
