Blue Peter's Mega Mileathon Challenge

On Thursday 8 March, Chandlings took part in Blue Peter's Mega Mileathon Challenge. Blue Peter presenters were running 26 miles with 26 different groups.

The challenge stretched from Much Wenlock, birthplace of the modern Olympic games, to Oxford University running track, where the first sub 4 minute mile was run by Roger Bannister. Chandlings were invited to complete both the penultimate mile and the final mile of the challenge, with 12 children running alongside the Blue Peter presenters.

The entire challenge was filmed and the heroic effort of the presenters and hundreds of children who supported them can be watched on Blue Peter, 22nd March at 5:30pm on the CBBC channel.

The Mega Mileathon Challenge was completed to help inspire people to get involved with Sport Relief, a massive fundraising project which is part of the Comic Relief charity drive. Money raised by Sport Relief helps to support projects here in the UK and worldwide, as well as being used to support those people living with mental health issues and providing lifesaving maternal health care for mothers and babies.
