Lecture by Leon McCarron, adventurer and filmmaker (22nd Sept)

leon

Last night the boys enjoyed a lecture by Leon McCarron, an adventurer and filmmaker originally from the North Coast of Northern Ireland. As a cameraman he has shot footage on five continents, including work in deserts, jungles, oceans and sub-zero temperatures. His talk to the boys focused on his recent expedition in which he cycled 14,000 miles solo and unsupported from New York to Hong Kong. It was a fascinating story, full of dramatic tales and adventures, including several close shaves with bears in the Rockies and tarantulas in Thailand!

Leon's next adventure will be a 3000 mile walk & kayak trek from outer Mongolia to inner Hong Kong, together with Rob Lilwall. The trip will attempt to raise money for the charity Viva, and the expedition website can be found at

We wish Leon well in this new and exciting challenge, and hope that he might come back to talk about it upon his return. Bon voyage!
